Miriam Oliphant slated to get the ax ... again
The ousted Broward Supervisor of Elections, Miriam Oliphant, will be joining the ranks of the unemployed soon. She is on a list of 123 Broward School District teachers slated to lose their jobs for failure to keep up their certification. The school board will vote on the terminations Tuesday.
In 2003, then Gov. Jeb Bush suspended Oliphant from office after she botched the 2002 primary in which polls failed to open on time, among other problems. She lost her race in 2004. The Florida Election Commission charged Oliphant with willfully breaking state law, but that case was later dropped after a separate appeals ruling concluded that the Commission was inappropriately using the definition of willful.
Oliphant was hired in December 2007 as a guidance counselor at Whiddon-Rogers Education Center in Fort Lauderdale, according to school district records. She earns $73,950 a year.
When called for comment today, Oliphant confirmed that she is on the list.
"That's accurate. Thank you Amy. Bye,'' she said before hanging up.

Since when does a school guidance counselors with out certification make $74K/ year?! what sort of credentials did she have to get the job in the first place? Oh I get it, she had friends in high places.
If Broward schools are hurting for money and experienced, qualified staff are cut-how can they possible justify hiring uncertified, inexperienced, unethical, ousted-politicos to a job like this?! Someone should look at their hiring practices!

She is still thick with the thieves I see. The Herald should find out who authorized that salary and they'll find their problem.
