Martinez and Nelson team up to vote YES on Sotomayor

Both Florida senators have just voted to back President Barack Obama's choice for Supreme Court justice.

Martinez is one of nine Republicans to vote for Sonia Sotomayor. Nelson took to the floor this afternoon, saying he believes the first Hispanic to serve on the court "will be a fair, impartial and an outstanding Supreme Court justice."

New Sen. Al Franken made it official: the vote, 68 to 31 in favor of confirmation.

FORGET ABOUT SOTOMAYOR AND NELSON BETTER STOP HIDING FROM VOTERS AND START READING THE BILLS HE VOTED FOR. I DIDN'T SEE ANY NEAR RIOT THAT THESE STORIES TALK ABOUT. I SAW CONCERNED VOTERS WHO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BILL THAN NESON, CASTOR, GRAYSON AND KOSMAS DO AS THEY NEVER EVEN READ IT. THEY ARE THE NANCY PELOSIS OF FLORIDA AND ARE EXEMPT FROM THE SO CALLED HEALTHCARE BILL THAT THEY WANT' TO STICK US ALL WITH. IF IT'S SO GOOD THEN WHY DON'T THEY TAKE IT THEMSELVES? THEY BOOK A SMALL ROOM AND PRE FILL IT WITH ACORN AND UNION MEMBERS AND THEN ALLOW A FEW VOTERS IN AND MOST VOTERS ARE LOCKED OUTSIDE AND THEN THEY EXPECT THEM TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT. SOCIALISTS NELSON, KOSMAS AND GRAYSON NEED TO FACE THE VOTERS ONE ON ONE AND STOP HIDING FROM THE VOTERS. THEY ARE AFRAID OF THE TRUTH AND NEED TO READ THE JOB KILLING CAP AND TRADE TAX AND PORK FILLED SO CALLED STIMULUS BILLS THEY VOTED FOR AND NEVER EVEN READ. NOW THEY WANT THIS GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE THAT THEY ARE EXEMPT FROM AND HAVEN'T EVEN READ IT AND ARE HIDING FROM THE VOTERS. WHERE ARE ALL THE JOBS? UNEMPLOYMENT WILL BE 10% TODAY AND WHERE ARE ALL THE JOBS? HOW IS ALL THAT CHANGE DOING FOR YOU NOW? STOP SPENDING AND PRINTING MONEY WE DO NOT HAVE.

Sonia Sotomayor's background and accomplishments were far superior than most past appointments and she was an excellent choice for the Supreme Court. Though there was way too much fixation on her being hispanic. It was played multiple ways: by the media as "historic", by the left to appeal to that voting block and by the Repubs to play the racial politics which their base loves. Sadly the Republicans have become totally unhinged by the election of a black president, from the Birthers questioning his citizenship, to calling him a Muslim and a terrorist... ad nauseum. Fact is Bush trashed the economy big time and got us into two wars with no apparent exit strategies and with plans for a third war in Iran in the works. Those are the main reasons Obama won. And how well Obama cleans up those messes will be the determining factor on whether his presidency and America overall succeeds. As for stimulus bills: pumping up the economy is the proper response during a recession, whether it's classical Keynesian economics or Reagonomics, most economists and people whose judgment I respect like Warren Buffet agree on that.
