Guns on trains? Florida senators say yes

Both Florida senators -- Republican George LeMieux and Democrat Bill Nelson -- voted today to require Amtrak to let passengers carry unloaded and locked handguns in checked luggage - despite the railroad's contention it has neither the time nor money to carry out the requirement.

The measure -- which was tucked into a transportation spending bill -- isn't included in the House version so it's unclear if it will become law.

Nelson was one of 27 Democrats to support the measure; all 40 Republicans in the chamber did so.
