State Sen. Jeremy Ring said today that he will not run for Robert Wexler's seat for Congress. A legislator since 2006, Ring said he decided he likes his current job.
"It just came down to I like my life,'' Ring said. "I have four young children - 3, 4, 6 and 8. Going to Washington would certainly compromise family time."
Ring said he did a poll that showed "while it was a winnable seat, it would be an uphill climb. I only represent a small part of the District.''
About half of the Congressional district lies in state Sen. Ted Deutch's senate district.
Deutch announced Thursday that he is running in the district that straddles Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Ring isn't endorsing anyone so far though he wouldn't rule that out in the future.
Broward County Mayor Stacy Ritter has said that she will make a decision next week.
