In a conference call with Democratic party leaders tonight, U.S. Robert Wexler of Boca Raton announced the reason he's leaving Congress: to be director of the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation, effective at the end of the year.
The Washington-based non-profit "brings Middle Eastern policy makers, American government officials, and international business leaders together to help provide an atmosphere that encourages a peaceful resolution to the Arab-Israeli conflict."
The group's chairman and co-founder is Slim Fast Foods S. Daniel Abraham. The Palm Beach Post reported in 2005 that the group had subsidized 15 overseas trips for Wexler, one of the most frequent travelers in Congress.

Gad! You know this is just going to set off a firestorm of crappy people running for office...
