Gov. Charlie Crist will announce his replacement for Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion at County Hall today at 2:30 p.m.
Will it be Dania Beach City Commissioner Al Jones or Broward College Trustee Levi Williams? Both are black Republicans vying to represent a black Democratic district -- which means that Democrats are certain to mount their own battle when the seat is up for election, likely in November 2010. Neither live in the district now.
Jones would be a safe pick because he has proven he can win at the ballot box, though he did lose re-election in 1997. Williams' past role as a lobbyist could hurt him at a time when commissioners and their spouses have faced scrutiny for lobbying. Both are seen as outspoken men who have fought for neighborhoods and the black community.

He's probably going to make it t the Republican Executive Committee meting tonight. I hear they're having trouble getting Charlie supporters out there.
