Jim Greer's apology, pleading and truth twisting

With calls for his ouster mounting, Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer's conference call yesterday with Republican committee members went about as well as expected. But according to some folks on the conference call, it was largely more of the same -- with a big exception.

Greer apologized. Greer allegedly said "I know I've made some mistakes" and he said that, if he could do it all over again, he wouldn't have tried to strong-arm party resources behind Gov. Charlie Crist's U.S. Senate campaign by invoking what's known as "Rule 11."

By so aggressively attempting to back Crist over Marco Rubio, Greer added to the grass-roots brush fire among Tea Party types upset with the Republican establishment in general and Crist in specific (for his backing of the stimulus plan). Since then, Rubio has bested Crist in about a dozen straw votes in county Republican committees and the former House Speaker's poll numbers are climbing as Crist's fall.

We can't give the name of those who relayed the substance of the call because Greer pleaded with his fellow Republicans not to talk to the press. Yeah, that's right, the press is the problem. RPOF's troubles have nothing to do with the fact that the party is losing members, Crist's poll numbers are shrinking, conservatives are angry and major moneymen are fretting that their money hasn't been spent wisely. More here on that

The next morning (today) Greer appeared on media-maestro Ron Sach's insider webshow, Power Play, and started talking nontheless. Not about the conference call, but in defense of Crist's decision to endorse the stimulus plan and then say he didn't. As the Buzz points out, Greer widened Crist's credibility gap (and his own) by saying: "If [Crist] had been a congressman, he has said many times, he would have voted against it."

Wrong.

Crist not only asked Congressional Republicans to vote for it, he said in May that he would've voted for the package.

Cynical Idealist

The press is the problem....

They say they're looking out for the truth, but in reality, they want to dictate what the truth is.

They rail against the influence of lobbyists and money in the process, yet they hired lobbyists to fight for their own sales tax exemption.

They say like they're looking out for the common good, yet they, too, answer to corporate masters.

I may be incorrect and the press my not be THE problem, but they damned sure are as much a part of the problem as lobbyists, money and the apathetic voters who don't seem to care to be involved in their own democracy.

I was raised on Dr. Dobson, and have just sent him a letter requesting his assistance to help me stop loosing faith in the Christian Church. My Mom respects Dr. Dobson as much or more than any other Christian leader, and she is interested to see his response. I only started learning the truth about the 9/11 attacks last fall. It took me an entire year to convince my own parents to listen to me, and begin reviewing the evidence for themselves. Now that they have thoroughly and objectively taken a fresh look into all the available evidence, they too are now aware of how badly we have been deceived. They now fully support my mission to find out what really happened to 2,993 of our fellow countrymen that fateful September morning. My mom is very interested to see if/how Dr. Dobson will respond. Please read my open letter to Dr. Dobson and share your thoughts at.........

Does Christ's Church really stand for TRUTH & JUSTICE? That is the question!
