Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, just announced that Florida's major health insurers have signed onto a compact in which they agree to cover the routine care of cancer patients involved in clinical trials.
Gaetz, chair of the Senate's health regulation committee, has been working with the insurers, medical providers and consumer advocates on the agreement. He will sign it tomorrow, Wednesday morning, alongside Senate President Jeff Atwater.
Gaetz called it 'a major victory' for thousands of Floridians battling cancer.
