Cowan: I have no role in Lauren Book's campaign

Ex-Broward County Commissioner Scott Cowan who served a few months in jail in 2001 related to raiding his campaign funds says there isn't much to the gossip about him picking up a campaign packet for Lauren Book who is thinking about running for school board.

"My role in the campaign at this moment is zero,'' Cowan said. "I don't know if I will even be asked to do anything."

Cowan said he was at the Supervisor of Elections office this week on unrelated business so offered to pick up the packet for Book. Cowan and Lauren's father, lobbyist Ron Book, are longtime friends.

anti lobbyist

Lauren is a brillant young lady. I hope she considers running for the School Board. She is the best "politically connected" candidate we have ever had in Broward County History. She would do a fine job ON HER OWN. She is a fighter for children.

I hate broward county lobbyists in general but if Lauren runs for any office then I will be the first person behind her.

Go Lauren.
