Senate shows animal bestiality bill some love

A bill that would make animal bestiality a first-degree misdemeanor earned swift approval in the Senate’s Agriculture Committee Wednesday.

At least 34 states prohibit sex with animals, but not Florida. Senator Nan Rich, D-Sunrise, has been pushing the proposed law since at least 2008. Rep. James Waldman, D-Coconut Creek, is sponsoring the measure in the House.

The bill exempts veterinary practices and animal husbandry.
