It looks like budget talks between the House and the Senate are nearing an impasse, thanks in large part to the absence of federal money to boost Medicaid spending. The House doesn't include the Medicaid money (c. $880m) in its budget. The Senate does.
"We’ve had mixed information on whether or not… to budget for (extra Medicaid money," Sen. J.D. Alexander said. "Our position is its more likely than not we’ll receive those dollars."
He said the discussions with the House have become more difficult due to uncertainties about the federal health legislation. "It has created some complications," Alexander said.
