George LeMieux said he's mostly reserving judgement on President Obama's plans for NASA, but said what he's heard so far suggests it "sounds better than the death of the space program, but it may only be the space program on life support."
He was quoting Neil Armstrong, who said Obama's proposal -- before it was revised -- would amount to the death of the U.S. space program.
"But having merely a rocket that will go somewhere, someday... I don't think is going to get it done for America's continued leadership in space exploration," said LeMieux, who spoke on a Republican National Committee conference call ahead of Obama's visit.
