House wipes 'Sani-pass' toll from budget

Hand_sanitizer In between speeches about the dire economic times and the need to tighten our collective belts, Rep. Jim Waldman was able to inject some levity into today's House budget debate.

His (admittedly "green") idea? Charge a quarter to use the hand sanitizer dispensers located in bathrooms at the Capitol. Don't have change? No worries, you can use a "sani-pass" that works just like Sunpass on toll roads. "It would be generating money for the state of Florida," Waldman said, to raucous laughter in the House chamber.

House Speaker Larry Cretul quieted down members with a sly grin on his face: "I think everyone in the chamber needs to listen to this."
