LeMieux says Crist should run as Republican

Sorry to be posting this hours late: U.S. Sen. George LeMieux called this afternoon to say he had talked to his old boss, Gov. Charlie Crist, about his struggling Senate campaign.

"I've made it clear that I believe Charlie Crist should run as a Republican in the Republican primary,'' said LeMieux, who wouldn't be in the Senate if not for Crist's appointment to fill the seat vacated early by Mel Martinez. "He's a good Republican, and that's my position...There's a long time between now and Aug. 24, and he should continue to make his case to the people of Florida."

Asked if he would withdraw his support if Crist ran as an independent, LeMieux said, "I'm not going to speculate about that.''

George...no one is fooled by your self-serving baloney. You are the one who steered Charlie to the left...and now you are jumping ship.
