The Seminole Tribe met this morning and ratified the gambling compact that will guarantee the state $1 billion in payments over five years in exchange for the exclusive ability to offer some casino games.
Next on tap is a meeting of the House's Select Committee on Seminole Indian Compact Review at 8 a.m. on Thursday, in which the committee is expected to ratify the deal as well. Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday he'll sign it today and then attend the House meeting tomorrow to encourage any reluctant lawmakers to pass it as well. Here's the House bill.
