VP to meet with Haitian-Americans in Miami

From the White House: "The vice president will meet with leaders of the Haitian-American community at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in Little Haiti, Miami.

The Vice President will be joined by Paul Weisenfeld, coordinator of the Haiti Task Team at the U.S. Agency for International Development, to discuss progress being made on the recovery and reconstruction efforts in Haiti, and reaffirm the United States’ commitment to the Haitian people."

The Vice President hosted a similar meeting at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in January, shortly after the earthquake struck Haiti." Rep. Kendrick Meek had planned to attend but was still in DC on family business and won't make it there.

The U.S. last week pledged $1.15 billion toward rebuilding the country. As Biden meets in Miami, Sens. Mary Landrieu and Kirsten Gillibrand and Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, head to Port-Au-Price to assess conditions for Haitian children who have been separated from their families.
