Meek has to share teacher union support with Crist

Team Meek has got to be fuming. The Florida Education Association decided today that instead of throwing its weight behind U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami, who spearheaded the class-size amendment as a state lawmaker, that it would co-endorse him with Gov. Charlie Crist. The governor recently vetoed a bill that would have largely stripped teachers of tenure and tied their pay to student test scores.

Dumb unions. Making endosements before the Democratic primary of August 24. Meek will be a distant last in the primary. Greene will get more votes than him. The winner will be Maurice Ferre, who only had 10% in the Sunday polls report. 10%? Ferre only was at 4% recently. with the other contenders with millions in the war chests, the unions were caught looking at the bank accounts and not the most qualified person running in this race. They were not impressed by Ferre's less than $200,000 war chest, to date.

What the unions did not look at is the seasoned former state legislator, former City of Miami Mayor, and former Miami-Dade County Commissioner. Or his intellect or his bilingual status and the demographics of Florida. Nor did they look at my endorsement of Ferre, as the legendary spokesperson for people with disabilities in Miami Dade County or at the state legislature since 1974. Unions never count people with disabilities, or our statewide numbers. We can determine any statewide election when we have a common mind to do so. I have put it to my peers with disabilties and the "block vote" is on the table. I have asked my peers, their families and supporters, thus far, to vote for Ferre on August 24th. My request is very selfish as I want the U.S. Senator to be on the side of people with disabilities. The other U.S. Senate candidates have not been for people with disabilities in there past and present elected offices. Greene is an unknown, but we are not going to allow anyone to buy an election.

By the way, when Maurice parks his car, he uses the blue disability placard, due to arthritis in the legs.
