The Chicago Sun-Times reports today on the testimony by longtime friend and former chief of staff to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Alonzo Monk: Monk testified about how the late Christopher Kelly -- once a key Blagojevich fund-raiser indicted in criminal cases -- plotted to get a presidential pardon with help from former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar, who knew Kelly. Monk said Kelly wanted Kosar to approach then-Florida Gov. "Jeb Bush and then go to President Bush and then pardon Chris." "It seems kind of far-fetched," Monk said of Rod Blagojevich's view of the plot.The pardon never happened, and Monk didn't elaborate on whether the contacts happened. Kosar's attorney declined comment.
