Lawmakers send Crist the abortion bill

Lawmakers have finally sent Gov. Charlie Crist the abortion bill, HB 1143. It's the last bill from the legislative session. Crist has expressed concerns about the legislation, which would require most women to have an ultrasound before getting an abortion. Although they would still have to pay for it, they could opt out of viewing the ultrasound.

Crist has 15 days to act on the bill.

Can anyone really take this Governor serious??

HB 1143 would interfere with the doctor-patient relationship and a medical professional's ability to determine what is in the best interest of his or her patient. Regardless of an individual's personal views on abortion, the state Legislature has no business mandating that health care providers perform unnecessary procedures on patients. Leading medical organizations, such as the American Medical Association, strongly condemn any interference by the government that causes a physician to compromise his/her medical judgment as to what information or treatment is in the best interest of the patient.

Urge Gov Crist to veto HB1143 and put medical decisions back where they belong - in the hands of doctors.

The requirements in this bill would have help inform mothers of what is really at stake and not the lies being told by those interests making a fortune of this horrible practice. The language in this bill could have perhaps allowed for a woman to think carefully before ending their own child's entire future simply because it is convenient.

Once a woman commits an abortion that act is not reversible. She can not bring that baby girl or baby boy back. She will then have to live with the results of that life changing act for her entire life. It simply makes sense for a decision of this magnitude to be carefully studied and analyzed by the person expected to live with its results.

Crist was wrong in his veto and his act will make a terrible practice too easy and convenient for woman that should have been more careful and should ultimately take responsibility for their out of control lives.

I think we should start with taking responsibility for our wild behavior and accept outcomes without taking our failure to do so on the unborn.

It is estimated that 43% of all women will have at least one abortion by the time they are 45 years of age. About 47% of all abortions are conducted on women who have had at least one previous abortion.

Responsibility, if they are mature enough to dance through life without regards for the damage they do to themselves then they should be mature enough to watch a video, explaining the importance and horrible act they are about to commit on their own baby.

Society should not treat aborting a baby like it's a trip to the hair salon. This is an important and life changing decision and women should have all of the necessary information about what they are about to do before it's too late.

Crist should be ashamed for opposing such common sense legislation.

The overwhelming majority of women engaging in this terrible act against their unborn children are doing it because that child interferes with whatever plans these women have at the moment.

About 65% of abortions in this country are conducted on women that are not or have never been married. Married women account for 17% of all abortions and divorced women commit about 10% of all abortions.

This is a very important decision and it should not be taken likely. Crist’s veto serves to make this terrible and life changing act into nothing more then a minor inconvenience.

Modern society looks at past cultures with disdain when told that these past civilizations sacrificed their young to the gods of the earth or of the water in order to receive abundant crops or other such rewards. But we are not very different from those people. We sacrifice our unborn in order to stay competitive in our chosen careers or because a child simply makes it difficult to go out on Saturday nights.

Future societies are going to look back at us in disbelief for the horrible things we did to our unborn children.
