After meeting with protestors urging legislators to put the drilling ban on the November ballot, Gov. Charlie Crist explained that the reason he did not include any economic relief in the call today. "Those issues are important too,' he said. "The obvious answer is this is a time-sensitve issue. If we don’t get it to the ballot by Aug. 4, it cannot be on the ballot at all. I think it’s first things first. We ought to address the issue that’s at hand.’’
He said that if they adjourn without doing it “it will be a real slap to the people.’’
Asked if he would bring legislators back in special session again, he answered: “We need to leave all options open and we need to remain optimistic today.”
