Miami-Dade, still No. 1. At least when it comes to spending money on lobbying

The Miami Herald reported last September that even as Miami-Dade faced its "most critical budget crisis in decades," the county was spending more money lobbying the federal government than any other county in the country.

Some things never change. New data from the Center for Responsive Politics found that Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, Miami-Dade County, Los Angeles County and Riverside County in California, respectively, ranked in 2009 as the top five state and local governments in lobbying spending. In the first three months of 2010, the 5 topped the charts again, spending a combined $1,175,000 on federal lobbying.
