Senate candidate and current governor Charlie Crist spent some time with Jewish seniors Wednesday, touring the facilities at Miami Jewish Health Systems, an assisted-living center.
Crist, who showed up nearly an hour late to speak to a group of about 50 residents, talked up his support of assisted-living facilities and the Silver Alert, which is designed to located missing elderly people.
"Florida is so committed to our seniors, to make sure your quality of life is as good as it can be," he said.
At least one resident was swayed.
"I'm a lifelong Democrat and this is the first time I'm voting for an Independent," said Shirley Frishman, 87. Of the Democratic candidates, she added: "He's head and shoulders above them."
