McCollum's bitter concession, refuses to endorse Scott

Bill McCollum's concession:

The votes today have been tallied and I accept the voters’ decision.

This race was one for the ages. No one could have anticipated the entrance of a multi-millionaire with a questionable past who shattered campaign spending records and spent more in four months than has ever been spent in a primary race here in Florida.

While I was disappointed with the negative tone of the race, I couldn’t be more proud of our campaign and our supporters for fighting back against false and misleading advertising when we were down by double-digits.

First, I want to thank my wife, Ingrid, and our entire family. I could not have made it this far without Ingrid’s unwavering love and support. I also want to thank the many Republican leaders who stood by our campaign and helped build our organization, especially Governor Jeb Bush, Commissioner Charlie Bronson, House Speaker Larry Cretul, Senate President Designate Mike Haridopolos, House Speaker Designate Dean Cannon and House Majority Leader Adam Hasner.

Most importantly, I thank the hundreds of volunteers who put in time and hard work to get our message out.  I am humbled and overwhelmed by their passion for our campaign and depth of their support.

As I’ve said time and time again, this race was never about me, it’s about Floridians. My campaign was about our kids and grandkids, and making Florida a better place for them.

My campaign for Governor may be over, but I remain committed to serving our state and serving out the rest of my term as Florida’s Attorney General. We will continue our fight against Obamacare, continue to support states’ rights and their authority to crack down on illegal immigration and fight for all Floridians.

I love Florida, and I believe in the extraordinary people who have made it the greatest state in the country.  There is nothing beyond our reach when we put trust in individuals and in free enterprise, not in government or bureaucracy. I will always remain committed to fighting for these core conservative principles.

I am a Florida voter and a Republican and i see NOTHING BITTER about the sppech at all. I see an honest person that cares about Florida that isn't jumpiong on the PC bandwagon. What good is a fake speech endorsing your opponent except to folks that like fake speeched bull of BS. The man simply said what he felt - why on Earth should he support and/or endorse a candidate that he doesn't believe in or like? BTW I voted for Bill McCollum and I would have appreciated a headline that wasn't slanted in favor of Rick Scott, but that's the news these days folks - just more commercials and biased reporting and little to do with "the news" as we used to hear it years ago - without a journalistic slant. Media corruption on display again - do we really expect anything else from The Herald?

I totally agree, this election was rigged and paid for. I just hope Rick Scott does'nt continue to rob the taxpayers! Rick Scott your under the microscope now, so watch your back, Jack!!!!

Remember, Sink is a moderate and Scott is someone that cannot me trusted! Chiles is also another option!

GOPinsider is an idiot

GOPinsider- you are an idiot. I believe you called this race for McCollum a couple of days ago. Bill McCollum is acting like a pouty little baby that didn't get his way. This is not the party that I have helped over the years. Not another dime of my money. I will only give money directly to candidates. If you were really and insider you would care about the values that Republicans stand for versus promoting Sink. You are a Charlie Crist traitor.

Gee, didn't take long for someone to throw the traitor word around.

It is a sorry day that McCollum still continue's to make big $$$$$ while holding on to his position as A.G. for Florida. We were hoping that we would be rid of him for good!! Remember the quote "we don't need that law. That will never happen in Florida"!!

Poor Bill. It was his turn to be gov. and along came Scott. I'm glad he is gettting out of the kitchen because he obviously cannot stand the heat.

McColon is a cry baby and so disconnected from what's really happening in Florida. Duh, that's not what's gonna happen here?! Hey dummy, it's ALREADY HAPPENED HERE! I'm thrilled he lost. You GO Rick! AND.. P.S. Yes, CRIST IS A TRAITOR. SHAME!

Bill McCollum is a bitter little man and it shows. His "poor me" speech was laughable. Florida will be much better off the day he retires. His hatefulness towards Rick Scott was his downfall. Rick will get along just fine without an endorsement from McCollum.
