Senate staff cuts/purge under way

Soon-to-be Senate President Mike Haridopolos is starting to embark on his long-awaited staff-cutting measures and, we're hearing, he has not renewed/laid off at least one $100,000-plus Senate staffer, with more to come. No more details yet. Here's a statement from the Indialantic Republican:

“Throughout the state, businesses and employers have to make difficult decisions regarding budget cuts and downsizing of their workforce.  The Florida Senate should be no different.  In the coming weeks, the Florida Senate will be replacing some personnel, consolidating certain positions and eliminating some jobs in an effort to reduce its overall personnel budget and improve its efficiency.

“The Florida Senate appreciates all of its dedicated employees, but it is the incoming Senate President’s prerogative to make personnel changes, with a new administration.  My goal is to have an efficient, well-organized Senate staff, and this is just the first step in doing so.”
