A tale of two Crist mailers

Here's a new political parlor game: See if you can guess which mailer for Gov. Charlie Crist's Senate bid is going to Democrats and which one is going to Republicans?

1) "Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate shares our values'' is the headline. The mailer talks about Crist lowering taxes, vetoeing pork, defending gun rights, and being tough on crime. See it here.

2) "Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate: A Leader who Stands up for Us"' is the headline. The mailer describes Crist vetoing an bill that was unpopular with teachers and another bill that would have required women seeking abortions to get ultrasounds. It also touts his support for the federal economic stimulus plan and opposition to offshore oil drilling. See it here: Download Untitled

Of course the idea of targeting voters with tailor-made messages is nothing new. Lots of candidates do it. But Crist's divergent appeals supports his rivals' criticism that he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
