George LeMieux on repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Don't go there

George LeMieux is unlikely to back efforts to take up a repeal of the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell act, calling it "highly controversial."

He said the Senate should wait for a military review of the effect of repealing the ban on gays serving in the military "before we make this substantial policy change while we are fighting two wars."

He and other Republicans are also angry that Republicans weren't allowed to offer any of their own amendments to the defense authorization bill. That stance was echoed by Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, who backs repealing the provision.
