If you're a native Floridian like me, you tire of New Yorkers boasting about how much better things are in ``the city.'' The bagels are chewier. The pizza is cheesier. The people are smarter.
But when it comes to seats in Congress, Florida is poised to gain some serious bragging rights.
A study released this week by Election Data Services concluded that Florida is likely to gain two congressional seats out of the 2010 Census, while New York is likely to lose two seats. That would mean both states would each have 27 members of Congress after 2012.
With all due respect, the news makes me want to unleash a long, loud Bronx cheer.
I do not think it's a bad thing that happens. Report forces will change a bit and I think that was expected. We need to know to look at things as they are.
The fact remains that in NYC, the bagels ARE chewier and the pizza IS cheesier. Spaghetti and meatballs are also tastier. And people ARE pretty smart.
(P.S. I love your blog.)
So you think paying to have two more people in Washington ignoring the wishes of Floridians is a good thing?
