Debbie Wasserman Schultz to headline Gridiron dinner

The Broward Democrat, in the running to head up the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, will be the Democratic speaker at the Gridiron Club's Dec. 4 winter dinner.

The group -- "perhaps Washington’s most prestigious journalistic organization," -- Politico says, also holds a dinner for the president annually. The invitation-only club was founded in 1885.

She'll speak alongside Rep. Mike Pence, the Indiana Republican and outgoing chair of the House Republican Conference -- whom the group notes is a "potential 2012 candidate for President (or governor of Indiana).

The group notes that Wasserman-Schultz is "one of the rising House Democratic stars and currently Chief Deputy Whip."
