George LeMieux predicts Nancy Pelosi will retire; Miami chamber applauds

Speaking to the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Florida senator said toppled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will resign.

The prognostication drew a round of applause. "I wasn't looking for applause, but I'll take it," LeMieux quipped.

The San Franciso Chronicle says the San Fran Democrat has not yet said whether she will run again to lead Democrats in the minority. "She is almost certain to be challenged,"the Chronicle said, noting that "GOP Speakers Newt Gingrich and Denny Hastert retired shortly after similar election defeats."
