Sen. Mike Haridopolos is making a show of his penny-pinching ways, to the point that he's recycling outgoing Senate President Jeff Atwater's business cards by crossing out Atwater's name and replacing it with his own. But he found the money in his budget to hire a term-limited state senator, Carey Baker, who dropped out of the race for agriculture commissioner earlier this year.
Baker, a Eustis Republican, formerly was chairman of the Senate's general government appropriations committee. He has been replaced in the Senate by former state Rep. D. Alan Hays.
"Carey Baker is a very influential, helpful person. He has vast experience in transportation and general government and military affairs specifically and I thought he'd be a welcome addition,'' Haridopolos said. No word yet on Baker's official title or salary.

Baker wasn't term limited.
