Former state House Speaker Larry Cretul has received a newly-created job at the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
The job is staff director for the chamber's board of governors, which includes members of the chamber's various issue committee.. Cretul is an Ocala real estate broker who was given control of the House after Ray Sansom resigned under scandal.
Cretul won't lobby the Legislature because of a ban in state law. Instead, he'll give advice on how to do that to the board. The chamber would not disclose his salary.
Chamber spokeswoman Edie Ousley said the staff director job was tranformed from a position that focused on corporate outreach. It has not been filled for "some time," Ousley said. She said the staff director job is part of a restructing at the Chamber to implement it's five-year strategic plan.
In recent months, the Chamber has hired Dale Brill as president of its foundation and David Hart as executive vice president.

It's quite clear that the state and national COC has joined the NRA and Southern Baptist Convention as subsidiaries of the Republican Party. I wonder if their membership dues will have a check off for the political action committees it runs such as the GOP wants to force on to union members' dues?
