New budget gap number: $3.5 billion. Or more

For those of yall keeping score, next year's budget shortfall is probably about $3.5 billion -- but it could be higher, according to state economists who shaved about $1.2 billion in tax collections from the state's general revenue forecast for the current and following budget years.
