Controversial developer in Israel is big donor to Ileana Ros-Lehtinen

Politico reports: "Irving Moskowitz, the retired Florida businessman who is developing a controversial Jewish apartment project at East Jerusalem’s Shepherd Hotel, is a top campaign contributor to Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), the new GOP chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, campaign finance records show."

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has criticized Israel for the demolition. Moskowitz is a longtime patron of Jewish settlers. Strongly pro-Israel, Ros-Lehtinen has criticized the Obama administration for pushing Israel to make concessions and favors cutting off funding to the Palestian Authority.

The process never seems to stop. Israel already gets more foreign aid then any other country in the world. Meanwhile violence and poverty continue unabated at our doorstep in Mexico and Haiti. To see continued support for Israel by supporters like Ros-Lehtinen and Moskowitz who just help add to the flames in the middle east really begs the question: How long are Americans going to sit idly by while our tax dollars continue to go to the middle east and American lives are lost to support Israel. The balance of power in the middle east has swayed too far in Israel's favor. It is time for the pendulum to swing back to the middle before anymore American lives are lost.

Why is this even a story? Ros-Lehtinen has been a long-time supporter of Isreal, so it is only natural for people who like her positions to contribute to her campaign.

Kevin, you are 100% right!

Mike, what are you talking about. The nations of NATO get $ 60 Billion a year. 98% of Israeli funding btw must be spent in the US so it helps the local economy. Israel's order of Ford trucks is one of the largest in Ford's history taking out the trucks it makes for the US government. The pendulum is so far from Israel with 44's administration I am not sure what you see. It is just natural that the pendulum should be for the country with most of the same ideals as the US and not with those who are warmongering Arabs who have not contributed one iota to society, target innocents, and do not have freedom for their people ie no free press, no free religion, and women are second class citizens. The pendulum in my view should take a loftier swing toward Israel and its free and capitalistic environment for all!
