It was a brief first meeting this morning for Gov. Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi, CFO Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putman, who assembled for the first Cabinet meeting of the new era. It's the first time in a century that a new governor and all new Cabinet members have been sworn in at the same time.
"It's a little different that a courtroom," Bondi said after the meeting.
The Cabinet eased into the next four years with a brief agenda. It's first vote, at 9:11 a.m., was a resolution celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Florida State Forests. Anti-forest fire activists Smokey Bear witnessed the vote. The Cabinet also approved Scott's appointment of Herschel Vinyard as secretary of the Florida Department of Environment.
"The governor sets the agenda," Atwater said. "These meetings will become more robust."
