As he begins to raise money for U.S. Senate race, Haridopolos hit with 'dirty' stunt

Liberal activists showed up this morning at an Orlando fundraiser for U.S. Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos and tried to pass out hand sanitizer.

Their point: Haridopolos is "dirty."

The stunt was planned in conjunction with a website,, that pulls together some negative headlines about the president of the Florida Senate.

Haridopolos told the Times/Herald he has still not decided whether to raise money during the session but noted that other officials seeking federal office have. And he'll need to get cracking. Incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson is starting the 2012 cycle with a healthy $3.1 million in the bank.
