Bill Nelson says he's offered legislation that would have the Senate seek a "quick U.S. Supreme Court decision on the divisive dispute over the new health-care law."
Nelson’s legislation asks the Senate to approve a resolution calling on the High Court to act quickly, because the lower courts have split -- 2 to 2 thus far -- over whether the law is constitutional.
The GOP-led House has already voted to repeal. The Senate is scheduled to vote today on whether to repeal the law.
"The vote to repeal health care is largely symbolic, because the Supreme Court is going to have to be the one to decide this matter," Nelson said. "We ought to do the right thing and ask the High Court to rule quickly so we don’t keep arguing over this for the next several years."
