Did Frederica Wilson really shut down a garbage plant?

Yep, says Politifact. The site fact checks the Miami Democrat's assertion in a Washington Post magazine cover story that as principal of Skyway Elementary in the Carol City neighborhood outside Miami, she helped shutter a garbage plant that was built across the street from her school.

"We closed that plant down, " Wilson told the Post. "It was a $27 million-dollar plant, operating full steam, and we closed it down."

We knew Wilson had a long track record as an educator before turning to politics. But she had a hand in closing a multimillion-dollar plant? We had to check it out.
