George LeMieux announces for U.S. Senate

"I'm in," George LeMieux told the St. Petersburg Times, in announcing his candidacy for U.S. Senate. "I'm in because the country and our government is on the risk of failure. This is a crisis. I saw it up close. If we don't rein in the spending we're going to melt the economy. I can't stand by on the sidelines and let that happen."

Adam C. Smith, St. Petersburg Times political editor

George LeMieux is a party hack. In the entire time that he held Mel Martinez' seat (for Charlie Christ who lost it to Rubio) he voted 100% with the pary. He did nothing at all to stand out as a senator. He was a seat warmer and that was it.

The only thing LeMieux will accomplish is finishing the GOP parasitic take-over of Florida politics.
