Ryan Wiggins has joined Florida TaxWatch as its new vice president of communications. Wiggins was most recently former Attorney General Bill McCollum's spokeswoman. Before that, she worked for the Florida Department of Transportation, former Gov. Charlie Crist and U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller in Washington, D.C.
Sue Ray, formerly the public affairs director at Florida State University's High Magnetic Field Lab, has taken a new post as communications director for the Florida Association of Insurance Agents.
Commercial law firm Becker & Poliakoff announced this week that it will open a Washington, D.C. office led by two former congressional chiefs of staff. At the helm as managing director is Omar Franco, who worked for U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, and Clarence Williams, who worked for former U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek. Franco leaves Franco Government Lobbying, a lobbying firm he founded last year. Williams also served as Meek's legislative director. Becker & Poliakoff has offices in Florida, New York City, New Jersey, the Bahamas and Prague.
