President Barack Obama's re-election effort is raking in the money: $86 million in the first quarter, more than $47m for Obama's campaign and $38m for the Democratic National Committee. In a video address, campaign manager Jim Messina boasted that 552,000 people gave and he suggested that Republicans are beholden to "special interests" and "lobbyists"--as if an entrenched political party and a president aren't raising special-interest and lobbyist dollars.
Down economy? Well, Obama, Dems still raise $86m in 3 months
