"Daiquiri Diplomacy"

Washington D.C. already has one Ernest Hemingway-themed watering hole, Bar Pilar, and while it's one of the city's finest bars, it's got nothing on a new "Papa" -themed bar opening in October.

The Cuban government will be opening "Hemingway's Bar" inside the Cuban Interests Section, reports Steve Clemons of The Atlantic. The invite-only bar opens Oct. 6 as a bit of "Daiquiri diplomacy," Clemons reports.

The Cuban Interests Section isn't the only embassy in town with a bar -- the British Embassy opens up its Union Jacks Pub to the public at least once a year, during the annual open houses for European Union embassies in Washington D.C.
