PolitiFact Florida: Does Social Security lift more than a million Floridians out of poverty?

 

One of the liberals to jump on conservative Sen. Marco Rubio's Reagan Library speech was Ed Schultz of MSNBC. Among his claims in a "Psychotalk" segment last week was that, "In Rubio's state of Florida alone, Social Security lifts more than -- count it -- a million people out of poverty."

PolitiFact Florida took a closer look at the social insurance program's affect on poverty, which is less clear than it used to be.
