'Bellwether' Republican Miami district likes Romney and casinos, unknown for Senate

A Genting-sponsored poll of Miami's Senate District 38 offers a pulse on the region, says pollster Dario Moreno, who conducted the poll for the casino development giant. The heavily Republican West Kendall district is represented by Anite Flores and is considered a "bellwether" because of its solid middle class composition and its mix of Hispanics and Anglos, Moreno said.

Among the findings of the poll of 400 likely voters interviewed Oct. 8-12 is a finding that Mitt Romney leads the pack with 34 percent support, compared to 10 percent for Herman Cain and 9 percent for Rick Perry. Any Republican is favored 58 percent over Obama. In the U.S. Senate race, Adam Hasner is a favored by 4 percent, George LeMieux by 10 percent and Michael McAllister by 16 percent with 70 percent undecided.

The poll released to the Herald/Times today shows that the district support casino gambling by 60 percent in all racial, gender and age groups with only Anglo women opposed -- by 41 percent. More here on that.
