Four months after announcing he was leaving Associated Industries of Florida, veteran Tallahassee lobbyist Barney Bishop said Thursday he's forming a new lobbying firm, Barney Bishop Consulting LLC.
"You can't teach an old dog new tricks," Bishop says.
He's looking to attract clients in three areas he views as specialties: space, transportation and offshore oil exploration. In addition, Bishop says, four other self-employed Tallahassee lobbyists will join him in an "umbrella" lobbying group. He's not ready to announce his partners yet, and the group is shopping for a catchy name, he says. He's also launching a web site (www.barneybishop.com) and a blog called The Bishop Blog and he'll start tweeting, too.
"Everybody's been waiting to see what I was going to do," Bishop says.

There is another phrase that also explains the fact that dogs and lobbyists will likely repeat their prior behavior: Once a wh--re, always a wh--re.
