No raise, but extra day off for state employees

State employees, who haven't received a pay raise since 2006, will get an extra day off this year. Gov. Rick Scott ordered all state executive building closed on Friday Dec. 23.

"This year has been yet another extremely difficult period for many Floridians, including State employees who diligently serve the State of Florida," Scott wrote. "State employees have not received a cost of living increase in five years, yet they continue to selflessly serve the State. During this holiday season, I would like to recognize State employees for their dedicated service."

Seems better than the Jelly-of-the-Month Club.
