Sally Heyman, Miami-Dade commissioner/barista

Spotted at Friday's food truck gathering in downtown Miami: Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman and her Coffee Brake truck.

Heyman, a former state lawmaker, has been operating her truck -- which sells coffee, café con leche, hot chocolate, smoothies, biscotti -- for several years (see a Miami New Times post from 2009 here). (Update: took us a while to find, but here's our 2009 story about the truck.)

But that didn't stop us from doing a double take when we saw her next to the Jefe's Original Fish Taco & Burgers truck on the parking lot of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Especially because Heyman, in the spirit of promoting the latest musical at the Arsht Center, was wearing green Shrek troll ears.

Heyman represents northeastern Miami-Dade County, including parts of Miami Beach.

"This is my decompressing time," she said with a smile, before gamely posing for a photo and serving her next customer -- who probably had no idea her coffee to go was coming from a county commissioner.
