Mitt Romney: I'd veto DREAM Act.

Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney Has been endorsed by the Miami Republicans who back the pro-immigrant Dream Act. But Romney said today in Iowa that he'd veto the bill if he could. From Reuters:

- Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney said on Saturday he would veto a proposal granting U.S. citizenship to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children, a pledge that won hearty applause from Iowa conservatives he hopes to win over.

A young woman asked Romney about the bipartisan proposal known as the Dream Act, during an appearance at a crowded restaurant in Le Mars, a conservative Republican stronghold in western Iowa.

"The question is if I were elected and Congress were to pass the Dream Act, would I veto it and the answer is yes," Romney said.

"For those that come here illegally, the idea of giving them in-state tuition credits or other special benefits, I find to be contrary to the idea of a nation of laws," Romney said.

"If I'm the president of the United States I want to end illegal immigration so that we can protect legal immigration. I like legal immigration."

Can't Take Anymore

Smug, born rich Romney wants to keep those damn foreigners from slipping into the US and taking all those low paying jobs that his corporate takeover company could be shipping overseas. Of course, when he campaigns in Miami in Florida's Republican primary the dope will probably wear a sombrero and proclaim his love for all the migrantes raising families, paying taxes, serving in the military and obeying laws. I hope folks quickly and loudly remind him of what he said in Iowa.

Joe

I supported Romney until now. He, in one sentence, lost my support and potentially millions of Latinos around the country. If I didn't know then, I know now. Obama 2012.

Blogger Caputo reveals his bias by calling it "the pro-immigrant Dream Act"... The proposed legislation might be good for ILLEGAL immigrants, but it is bad for LEGAL immigrants.

Fed Law prohibits giving in state tuition to non citizens unless the state gives in state tuition to students from all states.....

Personally.....I have been taxed to pay to educate for foreign kids from k-12..in fact.....it costs more to educate them than citizen kids because of language.....and the last thing I want is to be taxed to get them a college degree......

Here is an idea.....have them return to the country they are citizens of and suck off their tax dollars for a change.....
