Surfside City Commissioner and Democrat Sheldon Lisbon announced that he will challenge state Rep. Joe Gibbons (Hallandale Beach) in House District 100 which overlaps Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Lisbon said in a press release that he has lived in Surfside since 1996 and teaches part-time at high schools in Dade County and has served as president of Young Israel of Bar Harbour.
Gibbons, a former city commissioner first elected to the house in 2006, has raised $24,800 so far.

In his speach at the June 12th Surfside Commission meeting Sheldon Lisbon gave his rationale for resigning after three months. He used the words "trust me" three times - I find him hard to trust!

I understand that Sheldon Lisbon is in favor of vouchers in education. As a Democrat I find that difficult to fathom. Is it because he teaches in a Jewish High School?

Lisbon is obviously an opportunistic carpetbagger! If his promises mean anything, I look forward to his repaying the $20,000 to the Town of Surfside that it will cost to have a special election to take his place.
Good riddance to Sheldon Lisbon!
