In incumbent vs. incumbent primary, Rep. Jose Felix Diaz gets Chamber endorsement

Rep. Jose Felix Diaz picked up an endorsement from the Florida Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, as he faces a tough primary battle against another Republican incumbent, Rep. Ana Rivas Logan.

The two Miami Republicans were drawn into the same district during this year's redistricting process, and each is competing for votes and endorsements as the August primary nears. A recent poll showed a close race, with Diaz narrowly ahead.

The Chamber, a powerful business group wielding lots of sway over Tallahassee politics, originally released its list of endorsements on Wednesday, but had not yet made a decision in the Logan-Diaz race for District 116.

On Thursday, when the Chamber weighed in in his favor, Diaz said he was "humbled."

"As the son and grandson of small business owners, I am humbled by the support of the Florida Chamber of Commerce,” he said in a statement. “The Florida Chamber is the premier advocacy group for economic development and job growth in our state. Their endorsement validates and reinforces my unwavering commitment to bringing high-paying jobs and growth opportunities back to Miami-Dade County.”

Florida Chamber Endorses Josè Felix Diaz-For Florida House of Representatives District 116

TALLAHASSEE, FL (July 12, 2012) – The Florida Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it has endorsed Josè Felix Diaz in the Florida House of Representatives District 116 race.  This endorsement follows a comprehensive and deliberative review of candidates running for House District 116 as well as other Florida House and Florida Senate seats.

“Rep. Diaz understands that to secure Florida’s future, businesses need the ability to grow private-sector jobs and our state’s economy,” said David Hart, Executive Vice President for the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “To do so requires making bold legislative decisions that will help create a stable and predictable business climate. Rep. Diaz has a proven track record demonstrating that he embraces free enterprise principles and solutions, and the Florida Chamber is pleased to support him.”

Diaz, an incumbent running in the newly redrawn District 116 race, received an “A” on the Florida Chamber’s 2012 Legislative Report Card. His grade, along with other evaluating factors, is among the reasons the Florida Chamber has endorsed Rep. Diaz.

“As the son and grandson of small business owners, I am humbled by the support of the Florida Chamber of Commerce,” said Josè Felix Diaz, candidate for Florida House of Representatives District 116. “The Florida Chamber is the premier advocacy group for economic development and job growth in our state. the Florida Chamber is one of the most CORRUPT organizations in Florida politics.
I would vote for the person WHOM they didn't endorse, although in this case BOTH are equally bad!
do yourself a favor and vote for the DEMOCRAT in the general.
Both Diaz and Rivas Logan are far right wing ideologues who sell out to the rich while screwing the middle and working class.
I'm sure the crazy Cubans will vote one of them into office!
