Romney's new Spanish-language ad: Yes we can? Oh no, he didn't

From Univision:

The Romney campaign argues in a new Spanish-language ad that President Obama is “fooling” Latinos into supporting him, even though they have felt the brunt of the recession.

The 30-second spot released Wednesday opens with Obama’s famous 2008 campaign refrain “Yes we can!” (Sí se puede!) and then an on-screen message asks, “Can we?” The ad claims that Obama’s policies are to blame for 10 percent unemployment and loss of household wealth in the Latino community.

“Can we allow for Democrats to continue fooling us?” asks the narrator in Spanish. “When Obama and his Democrat allies tell us ‘Yes, we can!’ We’ve got to tell them we no longer can.”

Here's the post and here's the spot:

This is an insult to the intelligence of we Latinos. Mitt would be happy to see us in chains or dead. His filthy Mormon beliefs said we could only get into heaven as SLAVES because of our brown skin, and his policies reflect this sick and twisted belief. Gracias, pero NO, Senor.

Nelson, your mother called and said you forgot to take your medication. Those voices you hear are not your friends.

Nelson, Mormons don't believe people with brown skin can "only get into heaven as slaves." That's just false. I know because I am one. (A Mormon, and someone with brown skin.)

James Fairbanks

I would like to correct the comment of someone who finds it OK to not only disparage a candidate but also a world-wide religion using hateful rhetoric and lies.

Referred to as the Mormon Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, never has held any such doctrine. It is a complete falsehood to suggest that we believe people with brown skin can only get into heaven as slaves.

In fact, Latin-American countries make up the fastest areas of Church membership with over a million members in Mexico alone. Additionally, over a million members just in Brazil. Nearly half of Church members reside in Spanish-Speaking countries.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that we are all children of God. Our doctrine furthermore states that "[Christ] inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." 2Nephi 26:33 Book of Mormon.

I recommend for those who want to know more about what we believe to go to the actual source for questions, and visit one of our worship services. Then go to the ultimate source. My life has been richly blessed because of this Church and it is not appropriate to see it maligned with politics.

"[Christ] inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness ... unless they be gay or lesbian, for then they shall be righteously discriminated against, lied about and called destroyers of marriage and all that is holy, and shall be banished to second, or even third-class status forever and ever.

Why do an add in Spanish? To become an American citizen and be able to vote, applicants must be able to read and write English. They must also be able to speak english. The only people who cannot understand english are foreigners or illegal aliens, neither of which are permitted to vote. So why waste money on an ad directed only at people who cannot vote? Seems Romney is clearly addressing illegals and is ok with their voting for him, illegally.
I am a republican and I will not vote for him. The list of reasons is growing longer and longer. Neither will I vote for Obama because I do not subscribe to socialism. I pray there will be another on the ballot I can vote for.

James Fairbanks

Speaking in moral absolutes, bashing religion is wrong. Will's post is not what we believe. Again, I would encourage people who want to know the Church's position toward same-gender attraction to go to the actual source. Visit the Church's website, for example.

The only thing Romney is "for" is for the 1%, by the 1%, and of the 1%. Any other group is invisible to him.

Wow you learn something new everyday. I havent seen this ad yet.
